Grey Squirrel Control
Sciurus Carolinensis
Whilst Grey Squirrels may appear cute when you see one in a park or woodland, having one nesting in your loft is a very different story.
They were first introduced to the UK from North America in the 1870s, as ornamental additions to high-class estates and country homes. This continued until the 1930s, when the damage they can cause was acknowledged and it became illegal to release grey squirrels into the wild.
As these rodents are not native to the UK they are classed as an invasive pest and unfortunately, the need for control is sometimes necessary when they have nested inside a building.

Reasons for control of Grey Squirrels in a home or business:
- Gnawing of woodwork, ceilings and electrical cables which could lead to a fire
- Contamination of water tanks with urine and droppings
- Tearing up of fibreglass insulation for nesting
Grey Squirrels can also be noisy causing sleepless nights. They are having a negative affect on our native wildlife, in particular the Red Squirrel. They raid bird nests for eggs and cause damage to trees by stripping bark which can eventually cause them to die.
Ecotech Pest Control can provide effective and humane treatments for control of Grey Squirrels inside your home or business. We will also make recommendations on how to try and stop the problem from reoccurring.
