Cockroach Control

Blattella

Cockroach control for your home or business

The 2 most common species of cockroach in the UK are the German Cockroach, Blattella Germanica and the Oriental Cockroach, Blattella Orientalis.

Cockroaches can spread diseases such as Salmonella and E.coli, contaminating surfaces that they travel across. If you have a cockroach problem in your home or business it is essential to have it dealt with quickly by a professional.

German cockroaches

German cockroaches are 1cm – 1.5cm in length when fully grown and are golden brown in colour.

The females carry an egg until they are about to hatch. Eggs only take 1 month to hatch and can contain 35-40 nymphs (babies), meaning infestations can grow quickly.

They are very good climbers and are generally nocturnal so they can sometimes go unnoticed until their numbers have increased. They prefer to be in warm, dark locations like the back of a fridge freezer or a microwave which also means they are close to food sources in the kitchen.

Blattella Orientalis

Oriental cockroaches

Oriental cockroaches are 2cm – 3cm in length and are dark brown/black in colour.

A female will carry an egg for approximately 30 hours until it finds a safe location near a food source for it. This egg will then take around 2 months to hatch and when it does up to 16 nymphs will emerge.

They’re also more active of a night time but are not particularly good climbers so you’ll find them on the ground more than high up. They prefer cool, damp and dark conditions such as basements and drains.
