Although many people are afraid of rats, they are very nervous animals and are generally much more afraid of us!

Originating from Central Asia the Brown Rat first made it to the UK on ships in the 1700s. They’re now widespread throughout the country and are the most common species of rat here and are classed as a public health pest.

Rats can infest gardens, parks, homes, and businesses. Commensal rodents live off of us meaning wherever there are humans, there could be rats.

Reasons for control of rats in your home, business or garden:

Potential spread of diseases such as Weil’s disease, Salmonella, Listeria, Toxoplasma Gondii and Hantavirus
Gnawing of woodwork and electrical cables which could lead to a fire
Contamination of water tanks with urine and droppings
Contamination of food
Stock or reputation damage

Unfortunately problems involving rats rarely solve themselves so control is necessary.
